About Us

Serving the Town of Amherst and the surrounding communities since 1947

Amherst Federal Credit Union was established in 1947 by educators as Amherst Teacher’s Federal Credit Union, serving employees from 46 original sponsor groups and their families. As our community grew, so did we — welcoming non-education sponsor groups in 2003 and adopting our current name: Amherst Federal Credit Union.

In 2012, a community charter opened membership to anyone who lives, works, worships, attends school, or operates a business in the Towns of Amherst, Cheektowaga, West Seneca, or the Village of Depew in Erie County, NY — and their families.

It is the mission of Amherst Federal Credit Union to provide its member owners with personal service, consumer education, and competitive financial rates while remaining fiscally sound and secure.
