Amherst Federal Credit Union strives to be an active partner in our community by providing financial support or other in-kind contributions and by participating in public service activities. Over the years, we have supported a variety of charitable organizations and community events. Most recently we have worked with the following organizations; which include current events, continuous drives, and recent involvement. Erie County THANK-A-VET Discount Program

A complimentary program that was started to recognize the veterans in our community for their service and sacrifice. It is available to any Erie County veteran who files their original Military discharge/separation forms/certificates with the County Clerk’s Office. Amherst Federal Credit Union is proud to support our local veterans, and has maintained enrollment in the program, offering additional discounted auto loan and personal loan rates for members of the program. Members enrolled in the program can enjoy a 0.50% APR discount on top of any other sales, discounts or promotions.

Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive, 2025

For the first time in August 2025, Amherst FCU co-sponsored the Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive with Townsquare Media and We Are Buffalo. Credit union members and local community members were encouraged to drop off school supplies to be donated to local Salvation Army Youth Groups. Amherst Federal Credit Union looks forward to continuing this new annual tradition.

Hospice Bouquet Sale 2014-2026

In the 1st quarter of every year, Amherst FCU participates in the annual Hospice Bouquet Sale. Over the past 40 years, the Hospice Spring Bouquet Sale™ has become a timeless symbol marking the beginning of a new Spring season in Western New York. Along with being the Hospice Foundation’s largest event, the Sale also brings much needed public awareness for Hospice Buffalo and its mission.

Western New York Gold Star Mothers 2017-2025

The American Gold Star Mothers are a non-profit charity organization of mothers who have lost sons or daughters in the armed forces. Each holiday season, with the help of the our local chapter of the Western New York Gold Star Mothers, Amherst Federal Credit Union adopts a Gold Star Family and raises money and collects gifts for donation. Thanks to our members, staff, and volunteers’ support with monetary and gift donations, we have been able to provide over $1000 in gifts and gift cards each year.

Breast cancer awareness pink ribbon

Breast Cancer Awareness, 2014-2026

Each October, the Amherst FCU staff, board, volunteers, and members fundraise for Breast Cancer Awareness in memory of our dear friend and loan officer Ruth Duke. All proceeds are donated to charities that help cancer patients. Most recently, AFCU has been proud to fundraise for and sponsor several local events with Breast Cancer Network of WNY, including the annual Hope for Tomorrow 5k Walk/Run on June 5th.
